State Farm Insurance agent Shawn Leh from Fogelsville recently presented a $25,000 Celebrate My Drive grant to Parkland High School.
The school was one of 100 across North America to receive grants, which ranged in amounts from $25,000 to $100,000.
"In addition to collecting safe driving commitments, the Celebrate My Drive program recognizes a very important and joyous occasion in the life of young people learning to drive," Dave Philips of State Farm media relations, stated in a press release. "State Farm believes Celebrate My Drive is an effective tool to amplify the conversation around the importance of education related to teen driver safety."
Philips said to stimulate more safe driving conversations, State Farm specified 10 percent of these funds be used to support ongoing teen driver safety efforts.
"Celebrate My Drive encourages young drivers to think two eyes on the road and two hands on the wheel," Philips said, adding it is a strategy designed to emphasize positive driving behaviors and build confidence in young drivers.
In attendance at the grant presentation at the high school were Sue Sampson from State Farm Public Affairs, Matthew D. Szuchyt, liaison for state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, and Geoff Brace, legislative assistant for state Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd.
