Phyllis I. Messinger, 87, formerly of Slatington, died Jan. 3, 2015, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall, where she was residing.
She was the wife of the late Warren L. Messinger.
Born Oct. 17, 1927 in Emerald, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J.A. and Perma J. (Rex) Kester.
As a young adult, she was employed from 1945 to 51 by the former A&B Meat Packing, Allentown.
A 1945 graduate of the former Slatington High School, she was a volunteer with and served on the board of the Slatington High School Band Booster Parents for many years.
A member of Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville, she sang with the church choir for more than 20 years.
Her survivors include children Timothy W. and his wife Kathleen of Pittsburgh, Priscilla J. Hartzell and her husband Richard of Media and Darryl J. and his wife Holly of Whitehall; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alton A. Kester.
