Helen L. Rinker

Helen L. Rinker, 87, of Allentown, died Jan. 4, 2015, in her residence. She was the wife of the late George J. Rinker who died in 1998. Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Leo G.D. Wiemer, Sr. and Frances R. Wiemer.

She was a registered nurse at the Allentown General Hospital from 1952 to 1980.

She was a member of Emmaus Moravian Church, involved in choir, bell choir, served as a Sunday school teacher and was in the 50+ Club.

She was involved with the Unitas Chorale, Allentown Food Bank, serving as board member and volunteer, Miller Blood Bank volunteer, member of Eastern Region Moravian Women and the King's Daughters and Sons on the local, county and state levels.

She is survived by children Kathy, of Allentown, Paul and his wife Norma, of Allentown and Barbara, of Catasauqua; grandchildren, Tracy L., Herbert A. Bender and his wife Christine and George N. and his wife Jessica, all of Allentown; great-grandchildren, Zackary, Hailey and Logan Bender and Paul T. She was predeceased by a brother Leo G.D. Wiemer, Jr. and sister Marie J. Wiemer.

Contributions may be made to Emmaus Moravian Church, 148 Main St., Emmaus, 18049 to benefit the music department.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 8 in Emmaus Moravian Church, Main Street and Keystone Avenue, Emmaus. A viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
