John B. Klutzaritz

John B. Klutzaritz, 68, of Lehigh Township, died Nov. 30, 2014, at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Joanna M. (Cherry) Klutzaritz for 46 years.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late John and Althea (Wieand) Klutzaritz.

He was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S Army during the Vietnam era. He was the first soldier to fire EXPERT during qualifications with the M-14 and A2 rifle, having received a letter of appreciation in April 1996.

He was a dispatcher for the Northampton Borough police department. He was a former member and fire chief of the Lehigh Township Fire Company. He was a Lehigh Township chief of police and then a township supervisor, road master and board chairman.

He was a past member of the Lehigh Township Lions Club. He was a co-founder of the Lehigh Township basketball league. He was a member of and a baseball coach for 10 years with the Lehigh Township Athletic Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Matthew and his wife Carolyn of Walnutport, Michael and his fiancee Mary Ann Nguyen of Schwenksville and Bryan and his wife Lorraine of Ankara, Turkey; four grandchildren, Jared, Mark, Jamie and Jenna; and a sister, Barbara Frey of Bethlehem.
