Allen Township Board of Supervisors at its Dec. 11 meeting accepted the resignation of longtime planning commission member William Holmes.
"With regrets," Supervisors Chairman Paul Balliet said as the board voted to accept Holmes' resignation.
The supervisors did not immediately name an appointee to the planning commission to fill Holmes' seat.
Holmes served as chairman of the planning commission when the commission voted to recommend the approval of FedEx's plans for a megahub off Willowbrook Road.
In other business, township Engineer Brian Kocher said he will provide a report on vehicle parking on Bullshead and Willowbrook roads. Safety concerns were raised concerning vehicle parking on the side of the road where parents and community members watch athletic events on the grounds of Catasauqua High School.
Kocher said he has completed gathering information regarding the issue.
Township supervisors on the recommendation of Solicitor B. Lincoln Treadwell agreed to return $46,000 it held in escrow for a resident's home. The residence, on Old Carriage Road three years ago sustained considerable fire damage and was declared blighted.
"It's not 100 percent perfect to the point we should not be holding his money," Treadwell said.
He added the necessary work has been completed on the matter.
A report on fire company activities for November indicates there was no fire damage for the month and volunteers held regularly scheduled training.
The board is considering an additional salt storage shed but will look into the matter further. The facility would be movable.
"It's a lot of money," Balliet said on hearing of a $30,000 cost for the project.
