Brenda DeRenzo will serve as the new director of student services, effective July 1, 2015.

DeRenzo, who is principal of Fogelsville Elementary School, will have an annual salary of $117,000.

She will replace Robert Thornburg upon his retirement.

DeRenzo is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in communication disorders.

She also has a Master's degree from Bloomsburg University in speech and language pathology.

She completed her principal internship with the Pottstown School District in 2004 and received her principal's certificate by completing the program at The Pennsylvania State University.

Prior to joining Fogelsville as principal, DeRenzo was elementary special education coordinator at Parkland from 2006 through 2010.

District Superintendent Richard Sniscak commented on her appointment.

"Ms. DeRenzo is a strong leader who possesses highly effective communication and interpersonal skills," Sniscak said. "Her strong leadership skills coupled with her special education background and her many positive attributes make her an excellent fit for this position and we congratulate her on this appointment."
