Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4714, Northampton, honored four Northampton Area High School students for their winning entries in the VFW "Voice of Democracy Essay Contest." The contest asked students to write about why veterans are important to our nation's history and future. The award program was held Saturday at Samuel Owens restaurant, Coplay. From left are teacher and advisor Lisa Hohenshilt with essay winners Janelle Winchester, Skylar Kostick, Caylin Marth and Luke Altemose and VFW post 4714 Commander Larry Schlittler. The students were awarded scholarships and prizes and are entered into VFW district competition.
