Three NASD teachers to retire
The Northampton Area School Board has approved several resignations of teachers who are retiring.
School board members voted 7-0, with two absent and one voting by phone, at the Nov. 24 meeting at the recommendation of the administration to approve:
· The resignation of, effective June 2, 2015, or the last teacher day of the 2014-15 school year, teachers Roger Klotz, science; Carol Kowaleski, mathematics, and Jonathan Terry, science;
· The resignation of Brian Muschlitz, elementary teacher, Moore Elementary School, effective Jan. 15, 2015, or earlier if a suitable replacement is found;
· Half-year medical sabbatical for Helen Suchajda, grade 6 teacher, George Wolf Elementary, effective for the second semester of the 2014-15 school year;
· Additions to the district Volunteer Master Listing for the 2014-15 school year: Caitlin Carolan, Lehigh Elementary School; Amanda Dochat Moore Elementary School; Annemarie Jones, Borough Elementary School; Christina Moran, George Wolf Elementary School; Cheryl Ossa, Borough Elementary School; Stephanie Remington, athletic, and Shelbey Ziegler, George Wolf Elementary School;
Also approved was the hiring of:
· Doris Miller, middle shift custodian, Siegfried Elementary School, effective Dec. 15, at $17.99 per hour, with benefits;
· Brian Davies, assistant to the principal, Northampton Area High School, effective on or about Dec. 9 until Jan. 30, 2015; and
· Coletta Bodnar, long-term substitute library instructional assistant, Northampton Area Middle School, effective on or about Jan. 16, 2015, for the remainder of the 2014-15 school year, pending receipt of updated clearances, at $10.53 per hour, with no benefits, and;
· Suzanne Borovies, long-term substitute teacher, Siegfried Elementary School, effective retroactive to Nov. 13, through on or about April 23, 2015, at $46,850, pro-rated, without benefits.
The board also approved a 60-month lease with Fraser Advanced Information Systems to replace the copier at Washington's Crossing at $151 per month.
