The possibility of an Internet use policy affecting Northampton Borough employees was discussed at the Northampton Borough Council meeting Dec. 4.
Borough Manager Gene Zarayko reported borough Solicitor William McCarthy and he are presently in the process of putting together a social media policy for nonuniformed borough employees.
The borough police department has a policy already in place.
"The proposed new policy should be ready for review in early January," Zarayko said.
In other business, Councilman Anthony Lopsonzski Jr., building, land and recreation chairman, said the final dance of the year at the borough recreation center for fourth- through sixth-grade students will be held this Saturday, Dec. 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee.
The recreation center discontinued dances this season for seventh- and eighth-grade students.
The borough zoning hearing board of adjustment will convene this evening, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. for a hearing on an appeal of Julia and Frank Leland of 248 W. 26th St.
The couple is seeking relief on the borough's side yard requirements. The Lelands wish to build a sunroom addition to their residence.
The public is invited to the hearing at which the board will render its ruling after hearing testimony in the case.
The borough recreation center will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas and again Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.
Zarayko presented the proposed 2015 budget for review. He noted council will vote on the budget at its Dec. 18 meeting.
There were no comments or questions asked of the budget during the meeting.
The tentative budget calls for a half-mill real estate tax increase.
