Marcus, Kennedy re-elected as school board officers

Parkland School Board has granted unanimous approval to the same leadership team as in 2014.

Following nomination at the Dec. 2 reorganization meeting by David Kennedy, Roberta Marcus was elected president.

Mark Hanichak nominated David Kennedy for the vice presidency.

Voice votes made it all official. Board member Lisa Adams was not present.

Marcus, who joined the board in 1995, begins her fifth term as president, not all consecutive.

A fervent advocate of public education, Marcus has received numerous awards at the state and national levels.

She held executive positions with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for several years and served a term as president in 2010.

Kennedy is a longtime board member who has been a strong supporter of Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, where he held positions of leadership.
