Girls basketball coaches approved

An assistant girls basketball coach has resigned and three assistant girls basketball coaches have been hired in the Northampton Area School District.

The school board, on recommendation of the administration by a 7-0 vote at the Nov. 10 meeting, approved the resignation of Stephanie Remington, an assistant girls basketball coach, effective Nov. 10, and hiring of three assistant girls basketball coaches for the 2014-15 school year: Richard Worman, $5,342; Adam Bastidas, $2,137, and Emily Reightler, $2,137.

The school board also voted 7-0, with two board members absent at the Nov. 10 meeting, to approve:

· Suzanne Borovies and Nicole Kelly, short-term reading substitute teachers, borough elementary schools, 2014-15 school year, each at $125 per day;

· Kelsey Morrison, short-term special education teacher, George Wolf Elementary, effective retroactive to Nov. 3 for remainder of 2014-15 school year at $125 per day;

· LeRoy Hummel, unpaid leave, with benefits, Oct. 23-Nov. 7;

· Gianna Beleno, musical vocal director, Northampton Area High School, $2,597;

· Janet Gehret, 12-month special education secretary, administration office, effective Dec. 2, annual salary $30,592;

· Noreen Rodriguez, cafeteria monitor, Northampton Area High School, effective Nov. 11, annual salary $4,959, prorated, without benefits;

· Kelly Kauffman, voluntary transfer from cafeteria monitor to special education instructional assistant, Siegfried Elementary School, effective Nov. 11, annual salary $15,675.66, prorated, with benefits, to be paid by Access Funding at no cost to NASD;

· Kyle George, athletic; Jennifer Tita, Moore Elementary School, volunteer master list, 2014-15 school year;

· Linda Hayes, ticket taker-seller, athletic event staff, 2014-15 school year;

· A revised three-year service agreement with Stericycle, Northbrook, Ill, for the pickup of NASD biohazardous waste, for 13 pickups per year at $128 per month, effective Nov. 1 through Oct. 31, 2017;

· The Power of the Cinema Club to organize and meet under the direction of Sharon Skrapits at no expense to NASD, and

· Accept, with appreciation, donation of $2,500 from the Bath East-Allen Youth Group for the purchase of new basketball backboards and adjustable height hardware for George Wolf Elementary School gym.
