James R. Cosgrove, 84, of Macungie, died Nov. 27, 2014. He was pre- deceased by his first wife of 43 years, Kathleen (Murphy) and is survived by his wife of 19 years, Betty (Gaven) Cosgrove. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late James and Irene (Coogan) Cosgrove.
He graduated from Fordham University and was the longtime chief financial officer of the Association of National Advertisers in New York.
He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
He sang in the church choir and was a member of Summer Harmony.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Margaret and her husband Kent Herman; grandchildren, Patrick, Caitlyn and Sean Herman; great-grandchildren, Caden and Declan Herman; stepchildren, Catherine Phillips and David Carchia; step-grandchildren, Casey, Daniel, and Abigail Phillips and Julia Carchia; many other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife and stepson Thomas Carchia.
Contributions may be made in his name to the St. Thomas More Memorial/Teachers' Fund and mailed to the church.
Arrangements were made by the Weber Funeral Homes, Inc., Allentown.
