LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Student profile: Casey Machemer, Saucon Valley/Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech

Grade: 12

Family: Heather Machemer – mother; Cody Machemer – brother; and Adam Zimpfer uncle

Favorite subject: I love social studies, especially world cultures. I love learning about all the different cultures of the world and would love to travel the globe and discover more about those cultures.

Activities: I love to ride my bike and cook when I have the time.

Next steps: I was looking into going to college (not sure which one yet) to become a structural engineer and to design roller coasters.

Career goals: I want to keep a steady job for most of my career that pays well.

Heroes: I don't have a hero; not because I don't want to look up to anybody but because I want to be my own hero and maybe someone else's.

Hobbies: I don't have a lot of hobbies, but I like to watch TV and watch music videos.

Current job(s): I currently work as waitress at S&J Family Restaurant in Walnutport.

Likes: I like spending time with my amazing boyfriend. I like making people happy, and I like animals (I always dream of having a zoo).

Dislikes: I hate when people chew with their mouth open. I don't like that I'm a picky eater, but hey, if I don't like it I'm not eating it.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): Something great that I have accomplished so far would have to be making it to senior year and being a woman welder.

Advice for peers: If you have your mind set something but a guy tells you you can't do it because "you're a girl," then do it 10 times better and show that guy that girls can do the same as men, if not better!

Julia Swan coordinates student profiles for the Bethlehem Press.

Editor's note: The Bethlehem Press runs the weekly Student Profile feature every year, highlighting students from all the high schools in our circulation area. The students are chosen by administrators at their schools, who are asked to submit this questionnaire to six to 12 students who are not necessarily the top academic students, but who make positive contributions to their school and community. We thank the administrators, without whose help we couldn't continue to highlight these outstanding students.
