Nov. 11: Streak Challenge in support of a Parkland family, 6-8:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. In support of a Parkland family going through health struggles. The father was diagnosed last March with a rare form of pancreatic cancer and has undergone surgery and treatments. Mom was diagnosed recently with breast cancer and had surgery. A Streak Challenge will allow people to get a purple (pancreatic) or pink (breast cancer) hair extension placed in their hair in support of their fight.

Nov. 12: Key Club's fourth annual Minute to Win it Challenge, 7 p.m. in the main gym. This year's charitable recipient is the Eliminate Project, which aims to "eliminate" a disease called maternal neonatal tetanus. The illness is common in developing countries where contamination causes problems for both mother and child during and after childbirth.

Announcements

The high school Student Council's third annual Pumpkin Chuckin Contest raised $215 for Meals on Wheels by collecting money in voting buckets so students could vote for the teacher they thought couldwin the contest.

Timothy Schwarz was the teacher champ, but then had to throw against student, Julius Toth. Toth beat Schwarz to earn the 2014 trophy. Special awards went to Andrew Walker's Cinderella pumpkin toss, Denise O'Connell's height in her toss, David Martin's pity pumpkin toss (he had the largest pumpkin to throw), Daniel Repsher for his spiral toss and Schwarz and Michael Facchiano for raising the most money.
