Samuel Torsky

Samuel Torsky, 84, of Lower Mac-ungie Township, died Oct. 30, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy (Mokis) Torsky. They were married for 61 years Oct. 10. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., he was the son of the late Samuel Torsky and Mary (Buyachek) Schlachtun and the stepson of Joseph Schlachtun.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

He graduated from North Plainfield High School and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant.

Before moving to Pennsylvania in 2012, he lived in Aurora, Colo. for three years. Prior to that he lived, worked and raised his family in South Plainfield, N.J. He owned Spring Lake Service Center where he worked with his son-in-law, Dave and later his grandson, Davey. He was fondly called "The Lollipop Man" by his customers' children.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Sheree and her husband Dave Sesok, of Lower Macungie Township and Dawn and her husband Bobby Oldehoff, of Bayville, N.J.; grandchildren, Davey Sesok and his wife Samantha, Stacie and her husband Ed Blatz, Rob Oldehoff and Brittany Oldehoff; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lily, Davey, Sammy, Sarah and Katy; brother, Joseph Schlachtun.
