Oct. 31: Halloween parades at all elementary schools, 2:15 p.m.

Nov. 5: Music Teacher Composition at Symphony Hall, 10 a.m. Music teacher Dr. Scott Watson composed "Aesop's Fables," which will be performed by the Allentown Band at Symphony Hall.

They will be augmenting the performance with dancers from Repertory Dance Theater.

Parkland fourth graders will see their teacher's talents via a special field trip to Symphony Hall.

The family-oriented concert will also be performed that evening for the general public.

Nov. 11: Streak Challenge in Support of a Parkland family, in the high school cafeteria, 6-8:30 p.m. In support of a family going through health struggles. The father was diagnosed last March with a rare form of pancreatic cancer and has undergone surgery and treatments.

The mom was diagnosed three weeks ago with breast cancer and had recent surgery.

The challenge will allow people to get a purple (pancreatic) or pink (breast cancer) hair extension placed in their hair in support of their fight.

The Harlem Wizards are coming to the high school gym Nov. 20.

Proceeds benefit the Education Foundation and elementary PTOs.

Accolades and Announcements

High school senior Jacob Wilkinson placed first in the Music Teachers National Association State Composition Competition.

He and his composition, an original piece for solo piano, move on to the division level (Northeast), then the division winners compete for the national award.

Jacob was named a winner in the NAfME National Composition Competition last year and also won a contest sponsored by MusicFirst:

Noteworthy Parkland graduate wanted

Parkland's Alumni Wall of Honor includes 20 alumni, but more are being sought. Applications for honorees are now being accepted to be inducted at the annual Gala May 4, 2015.

Nominees are being sought who have distinguished themselves and contributed to society in an exemplary manner.

Nominees must be at least 25 years of age and are evaluated on the following criteria:

· Accomplishments in his or her chosen career;

· Volunteer work or acts of service;

· Positive impact on people or contributions to others; and

· Special recognition or awards.
