William L. Scherr, 82, of Northampton, died Oct. 9, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Eleanore A. (Pail) Scherr for 59 years.
Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Knittelfelder) Scherr.
He was in the U.S. Navy.
He was a lessee and operator for Park & Shop, Allentown.
He was a member of Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Northampton, where he was an usher.
He was a cafeteria volunteer for the former Our Lady of Hungary School. He was the first cub master of Cub Pack 99, Northampton. He was a life member of the Coplay Saengerbund and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Coplay Lions Club.
He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 454, Northampton, and a member of its Military Honor Guard for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William J. and his wife Melissa of Whitehall; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Shayanne.
He was predeceased by five siblings, Joseph, Charles, Alfred, John and Mary.
