John M. Powell, 83, of Whitehall, died Sept. 18, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Charlotte C. (Kilousky) Powell for 61 years.

Born in St. Clair, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Marie R. (Snyder) Powell.

He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a mail carrier in Whitehall for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph J. and his wife Carol of Mechanicsburg and John M. Jr. and his wife Karen of Whitehall; a daughter, Charlene and her husband Walter Karl of Benton; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nadine, Stephen, Walter and Sarah; and five great-grandchildren.
