Alfred E. Tullock Sr., 92, of North Catasauqua, died Oct. 2, 2014, at Whitehall Manor, Fullerton. He was the husband of the late Caroline A. (Wunderly) Tullock for 60 years.
Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late John H. and Anna A. (Cesanek) Tullock.
He was a 1939 graduate of Whitehall High School.
He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp Orinoco, Va., where he was assistant education administer. He was in the Army Air Corps. He was a top turret gunner on a Mitchell B-25 bomber, and completed more than 54 missions in the east, west battles for North Africa, Sicily, Crete and Italy. He received the Meritorious Unit Award, two Purple Hearts, the European African Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, the Air Medal with four battle stars, a World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was a master plumber, working in the plumbing and heating business. He worked at Durkee Famous Foods, retiring as maintenance supervisor.
He is survived by a son, Alfred Jr. and his wife Carol; a daughter, Carol Ann and her husband Michael Bodnar; a son, James and his wife Deborah; a daughter, Susan and her husband Carson Smith; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Oranczak and Catherine Pritchard; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John; and two sisters, Irene Butryn and Ann Foley.
