A blessing of the animals will take place 4 p.m. Oct. 5 at Union Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville, during an outdoor worship service at the rear of the church.

In case of rain, the blessings will be in the Family Life Center.

All animals need to be under physical control with a leash, harness, bridle or in a crate and must be safe around people and other animals.

If an animal is unable to be present, an article representing the pet, such as a picture, collar, toy, halter, etc., will be blessed on its behalf.
