William "The Rabbit Man" Pearsall, 85, of Macungie, died Sept. 23, 2014, in the Phoebe Home. He was the wife of the late Bessie L. (Long) Pearsall. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Shelly) Pearsall.
He worked in the blast furnaces for Bethlehem Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
For 50 years he raised rabbits in the borough of Macungie and was a member of various rabbit clubs. He is in the Hall of Fame of the Eastern States Flemish Giant RBA.
His friends knew him as the honorary Emmaus Dunkin Donuts greeter.
He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by sons, William A. and his wife Kelly, of Emmaus and Walter Scott and his wife Gayle, of New Tripoli; daughters, Lois M. and her companion Albert McCrae, Jr., of Macungie, Cathy and her husband Ernie Lutterschmidt, of New Smithville, Nancy and her husband Alan Hoffman, of Macungie and Robin and fiancee Brian Wanamaker, of Emmaus; sisters Mary, of Allentown, Joyce Decker, of Whitehall and Dorothy Ruhf, of Egypt; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles, Jr. and Daniel, sister, Arlene McGuire, and grandson, Anthony Romig.
