Mildred H. German, 90, of Lehighton, died Sept. 13, 2014, at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Elmer "Jiggs" German for 64 years.

Born in Union Hill, she was a daughter of the late Amandus and Bessie (Wentz) Nothstein.

She was a sewing machine operator at Scotty's Fashion, Lehighton.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lehighton, where she served on church council, sang in the choir, and was a member of the altar guild and Women of Grace.

She was past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Lehighton.

She is survived by two daughters, Maxine and her husband Donald Gantz of Whitehall and Kathy and her husband Emil Suarez of Saylorsburg; a sister, Shirley Jones of Lehighton, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Lenore Smoyer.

There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Sept.18 at Grace Lutheran Church, 115 . Fourth St., Lehighton, 18235.
