Beverly W. Hensler, 82, of Allentown, died Sept. 9, 2014, at home, after a long illness. She was the wife of Dr. Donald H. Hensler for 60 years.
Born in Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Grace (Pratt) Werner.
She was a graduate of Maryland College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in music, and of Kutztown University, where she earned a master's degree in education.
She specialized in elementary guidance counseling and taught in the East Penn School District until her retirement in 1995. She was a music teacher in School District No. 6, Madison, Wisc. A private piano instructor, she was a composer and an alto soloist and choral singer, and was a member of or conducted several choirs including that of First Presbyterian Church, Allentown. At the church, she was a deacon, and, later, an elder.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Dr. Julie G. and her husband Stephen Rutledge of San Antonio, Texas, Ann L. and her husband Darryl Wendling of Macungie, and Katherine W. of Milford, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Aurey, Alex, Alicia, Austin, Ethan, Lawson and Samantha; and four great-grandchildren; Athan, Hunter, Livy and Halan.
