Robert K. Eichner, Sr., 66, of Walnutport, formerly of Catasauqua, died Aug. 14, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Alfred and Caroline (Kunkle) Eichner.

He worked as a mechanic for Mack Trucks for many years. Most recently he was a bus driver for the Lehigh Carbon Intermediate Unit before retiring.

He was a 1966 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

He loved working on classic cars including a 1941 Chevy street rod.

He is survived by a son, Robert K., Jr. and his fiancee Connie Diefenderfer; sisters, Debbie Bird and companion Richard David, Dian and her husband Hugh Fisher, and Charlotte Isaac. He was predeceased by a sister Charmine Kressley and brother Alfred.
