The first day of the new school year is Aug. 25. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and are refreshed and ready for all of the activities planned.

The elementary and middle schools are always looking for parent volunteers and it's a great way for parents to stay connected with events.

Busing and classroom assignments should be arriving soon.

Students may bring their own electronic device to school. To do so, parents must complete an eReader Agreement and/or a BYOD Agreement.

Practice for fall sports begins on Aug. 11. Health physical paperwork and honor code need to be submitted to the athletic office ASAP.

Northwestern Recreation Commission is hosting a blood drive 4-8 p.m. Aug. 16.

Band camp at the high school is 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 11-15 and 4-8 p.m. Aug. 18-22.

Rehearsals will be in the high school band room. Mr. Lykins and Mr. Fies are still accepting members. Just visit the band page for information and to sign up.

Band member picture day is 3-4 p.m. Aug. 22. Parent night is planned for 6 p.m. that evening.

Aug. 20 is orientation at the schools.

Ninth grade orientation information will be posted on the website shortly. Middle school orientation for sixth grade and new students will be 8:30-10 a.m. Kindergarten and new student orientation will be 2-3:30 p.m.

The students' supply list is posted on the district website. Check the page for your child's school to find the supply link.

Instrument Rental Night for Northwestern and Weisenberg elementary students will be 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in the NWE cafeteria.
