LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

South Whitehall's 'Night Out' planned for Covered Bridge Park

South Whitehall Township Crime Watch and the township police department will have its fourth annual National Night Out 6-8 p.m. Aug. 5 at Covered Bridge Park.

The event will take place rain or shine.

Taking part in the celebration will be local fire departments, St. Luke's University Health Network, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Hounds on Working Leashes, A Girl and a Gun, Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley and more.

The Lehigh Valley Zoo will give a presentation 6:30-7:30 p.m. with five animals, including a penguin; and Bluebell, from Tootsee the Clown and Friends, will stroll in the park from 6-8 p.m.

St. Luke's Healthstar van will display medical services and give out emergency preparedness information.

Lehigh County Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud task forces will be offering free VIN engraving to etch vehicle identification numbers onto windows.

The process is harmless to windows and does not detract from the visual appeal of the vehicle. Baltimore Life will be providing free photo ID's.

This family event includes food, children's activities, informative handouts and giveaways.

This nationwide free event, every year on the first Tuesday in August, promotes crime prevention and creates a positive neighborhood spirit of community and police interaction.
