The Coplay Public Library needs two new computers.
At the July 10 meeting, the library board discussed replacing two ailing PCs with two new laptops at an approximate cost of $1,200.
"This is where we need money," said board President Janet Eisenhauer. The hard drive in one of the PCs is shot and it would cost $500 just to fix it.
"It's just not worth it," she said.
The library ordinarily has four PCs available for public use. With two of them malfunctioning, the library is down to two.
The borough has earmarked $4,500 for the library for repairs along with other items.
"Is there any way we can have some of that money?" she asked board member Charles Sodl, who is also a borough councilman. "We can get two nice laptops for $1,200 total."
Eisenhauer said the library really needs to upgrade the computers.
"We just can't run on two computers," said Eisenhauer. The library ordinarily has four computers available to the public but two of those are in need of repair.
"Those things are used heavily and when school starts they're going to be used heavily again," she said.
Bookkeeper Teri Holderman said the library has money in the bank and should consider buying new computers.
