Camp Cementon goes to the animals
Week two started up at Camp Cementon after the long holiday weekend came to an end. This week our theme was animals.
Many of our campers dressed up in animal prints throughout the week and on Friday they went all out and dressed like their favorite animals.
Bryce M. rocked an awesome dinosaur mask and Nathan sneaked in with his sly fox ears and tail. We played many animal themed games as well, such as hungry, hungry giants and ant tag.
As a camp favorite, dodge ball games were played almost every day this week to satisfy the campers' numerous requests. The campers got crafty this week as well, making little magnetic caterpillars from clothespins and colored puff balls. Every camper's caterpillar looked different, and they were all very creative.
Camp Cementon campers also practiced their baking skills Thursday by making dog treats for the dogs at Peaceable Kingdom. The children were very excited to make special snacks for the pups.
On Wednesday, we boarded our buses and made the long but well worth it drive to our field trip at the North Museum of Natural History in Lancaster. In the planetarium, we saw an awesome interactive presentation about outer space. The campers then had the chance to explore the entire museum, viewing collections of birds, bugs and dinosaurs, to name just a few exhibits.
Many of the campers bought slime and moon candy from the gift shop to end their field trip day. All the campers left with smiles on their faces.
The gang at Camp Cementon was able to get to the pool every afternoon to cool off. Swim lessons began this week for many of campers to practice their swimming skills. By the end of the week, we had many campers who passed their swim test, including Becky, who took her very first jump off the diving board last week.
Our campers of the week were Sean K. and Hailey W. Congrats to them for their good camp behavior.
The counselors are looking forward to a funky themed upcoming week.
