Whitehall Township Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. hopes a tract of open space will soon be used for a hospital or medical facility in the township.
The 143 acres in question is owned by Lehigh Valley Health Network and is located off MacArthur Road. The hospital has not announced any plans for the development of the land.
The township indicated a hospital or medical facility would be a perfect fit. The Kasych family donated the 143 acres.
Hozza did not confirm if talks are taking place between the township and Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Storm water issues on the land have been addressed with the inclusions of swales and detention ponds.
"No decision has been finalized," Hozza said. Township officials have noted no hospital serves the area north of Allentown.
The township has expressed reservation concerning the development of the tract of land.
