Parkland names new principals
Daniel Repsher, who served as assistant principal at Lehighton Area High School, was appointed assistant principal at Parkland High School at an annual salary of $87,000.
He replaces Donna Steckel who retired at the end of this school year.
School Director Rob Cohen offered comments to Repsher at a recent school board meeting.
"You certainly presented yourself well," Cohen said. "With your hire comes a lot of responsibility."
Repsher earned his Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Penn State, a teaching certificate in business and technology for kindergarten through 12th grade from Gwynedd-Mercy College, plus a Master of Science degree in educational leadership and a principal's certificate from Lehigh University.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Repsher had teaching experience in Bangor and Easton.
District Superintendent Richard Sniscak welcomed Repsher to the administrative team.
"Mr. Repsher is an enthusiastic leader who is child-centered and committed to student growth and achievement," Sniscak said.
The board also approved Jude Sandt as assistant principal for Springhouse Middle School at an annual salary of $85,000.
He replaced Robert Holmes, who was named Ironton Elementary School principal, following the retirement of Lynette Smith at the end of the school term.
Sandt was instrumental music teacher and band director at Orefield Middle School, where he was credited for building the band program and leading a successful, competitive jazz band.
Sandt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Moravian College, a Master of science degree in educational leadership from Wilkes University, a Bachelor of Science from Penn State in business management, and a Master of Scioence degree in classroom technology from Wilkes.
Sniscak commented on Sandt's qualifications.
"Jude strives for excellence and is always seeking to do his very best for the benefit of students," Sniscak said. "His love for the profession and students is evident in the way he works on a daily basis and we whole-heartedly welcome him to this new leadership position."
