Incumbent state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, Republican, is running unopposed in the May 20 Primary Election for another two-year term in the 134th Legislative District.
The Press asked candidates why they should be elected or re-elected to serve constituents in his or her district.
Q. Why should voters re-elect you to represent the 134th Legislative District?
A. When I was elected, I was entrusted with the responsibility to represent my constituents and provide effective and responsive constituent service.
Over the past two years, I have been proud to establish a record of leadership on issues such as job creation, protecting taxpayers, strengthening education and reforming government.
Within six months of taking office, I passed my first piece of legislation, which streamlined government (Act 169 of 2012). I also helped draft and pass a number of other bills that significantly reformed government and will save taxpayers almost $400 million a year.
As the prime sponsor of the 2013 Tax Reform Code, I worked to help small businesses grow and create jobs. In addition, I am now advancing an innovative new program to present students with more real world career opportunities. Based on my record, I humbly ask for the continued support of our community on Election Day.
