Upper Macungie Township police and the Drug Abuse Resistence Education Program are offering a free women's self-defense workshop 12:30-2 p.m. May 14 at Leading Edge Martial Arts, 3239 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown.

Sign in starts at 12:15 p.m.

In this one-and-a-half-hour class, participants will receive tips on how to avoid being a target and potential victim; learn how to deal with a situation once it has presented itself; learn easy to use yet effective striking techniques and hands-on self-defense moves when grabbed by an attacker.

Participants will have the opportunity to practice all these skills on volunteers from Leading Edge Martial Arts.
