At a special event Tuesday, April 29 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, Sandy Bodnyk was one of three ladies to receive the "Take The Lead Award" from the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Over the past years, the "Take the Lead" Event chooses exceptional leaders who have made, and continue to make, lasting impressions on their communities, embodying the Girl Scout virtues of courage, confidence and character. Developing that "next generation" of female leaders is what Girl Scouts and "Take the Lead" are all about.
After graduating from Muhlenberg College in 1973, Sandy began her banking career in Philadelphia as a credit analyst and then loan officer. She moved to Allentown banking in 1977 and continued to grow in her career. Sandy is now senior executive vice president and chief risk officer for National Penn Bank, and has oversight of the information technology and operations areas, in addition to her risk management and credit responsibilities.
In preparation for Tuesday's award presentation, Sandy was visited at her office for the better part of a day and interviewed by a Girl Scout, Sydney Anderson, from the Easton area. She was then Sandy's "presenter" for the evening. In fact, aside from remarks made by several adult leaders, the evening's program was led by various Girl Scouts.
I am proud to say Sandy is my wife!

They will have a chance to audition to perform at NYC's Carnegie Hall with the Cross Border Youth Orchestra of Ireland, coming to the area in October.
