'The smaller the better'

The 22nd invitational exhibit of "The Art of the Miniature," an internationally-renowned exhibit of miniature works of art, continues through June 15 at The Snow Goose Gallery, 470 Main St., Bethlehem.

"The Art of the Miniature," brainchild of Mary Serfass, owner of Snow Goose since 1992, attracts well-known artists from all over the United States and the world.

Serfass is known in her own right for paintings and miniature works of art. Because of her extensive knowledge of the art of miniature, she is frequently asked to judge and curate shows throughout the country

Serfass has grown "The Art of the Miniature" exhibit from the first show of 27 artists and 150 pieces to this year's 81 artists and 420 pieces.

"Our show is very well-known," Serfass says. "Artists from England, Germany, Wales and South Africa contribute pieces."

Serfass is particularly proud to display the miniature pieces of Linda Rossin, who designs the White House hand-painted Easter eggs. Serfass also mentions Gerald Lubek of Vermont and Jane Mahalik of Maryland as popular artists whose miniatures are in the show.

"I've always been drawn to works in miniature. The smaller the better," says Serfass.
