Macungie
As part of this year's ninth annual "Heroes Helping Heroes" event, a joint human and canine blood drive will take place noon-4:45 p.m. May 4 at Macungie Memorial Park, Route 100, Macungie.
The blood drive is sponsored by Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center's Animal Blood Bank, Cloud Nine Pet Services at Kimberly Memorial Park, Weisenberg Township, Queen of the Valley Farm, and Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
To donate, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and must not have donated in the past eight weeks.
All donors must also provide valid identification with the donor's name printed on it, as well as a photo and/or signature.
In addition to the human and canine blood drive, the pet fair will include pet portraits by Pooch Smooch Photography, pet massages, demos, give-aways, shopping and educational opportunities, and booths for animal rescue groups, shelters and vendors. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.
Schedule of events for the day include:
·12:15 p.m. Agility demo by Lehigh Valley Dream Weavers Agility Club;
·1 p.m. Passion for Paws Dog Training;
·1:30 p.m. Nose Work Demo by Kerber Dog Training;
·2 p.m. Macungie Police K-9 Demonstration;
·2:30 p.m. Bryar, a Therapy Dog;
·3 p.m. Pet CPR by Osco CPR Roadtour; and
·3:30 p.m. Agility demo by Lehigh Valley Dream Weavers Agility Club
