The 2014 STARTALK Mandarin Chinese summer program "Gateway to China: STARTALK- Language Learning through Performing Arts" for grades seven through 12 is accepting applications.
The course will include a 12-day intensive non-residential program to learn Mandarin language and Chinese culture.
This free program will offer a wonderful opportunity for students to work with experts in the fields of Chinese martial arts, theater and language.
This Berks County Intermediate Unit's summer language program is funded by the National Security Language Initiative.
Deadline to register is May 1. Camp attendees will be notified May 15.

Elementary
There is a Partners in Education meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 9. Check with the office to determine where the meeting will be held.
PIE has scheduled a roller skating night at the Family Independence Fun Center on April 11.
There will be a Literary Arts Night "Fiesta" 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 15. The concert begins 6 p.m.
Weisenberg
Elementary
Kindergarten registration will take place from 8:20 a.m.-2:30 p.m. April 9 and 10 and 8:20-10 a.m. April 11 at Weisenberg Elementary School.
There is a PTO meeting scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on April 4.
Weisenberg parents Jennifer Ott and Nicki Reimert will be speaking about the Fresh Air Fund.
The art show will be 6-8 p.m. April 10.
The book fair will also be open that night and there will be a third grade recorder performance.
Students are invited to visit the library and check out the collection of books provided by Scholastic for purchase.

Northwestern Youth Wrestling and Cheering are having a basket bingo fundraiser at 1 p.m. April 5 at Lynnport Fire Company, 7164 Behler Road, Lynnport.
In addition to basket bingo, there will be three specials, hostess raffles, door prizes and food available for purchase.
The fundraiser will help with needed equipment such as new mats, singlets and new cheering uniforms.
