City Council's Feb. 4 meeting began with a swearing in ceremony for new City Council Member Cathy Reuscher. Reuscher was recently elected to fill Robert Donchez' seat after resigning from council to serve as city mayor.

Reuscher, a long time resident of the city, founded the Bethlehem Co-Op in 2012 which offers, "healthy, affordable, locally-focused food and informational workshops in a convenient neighborhood location," according to a statement on the company's website.

Several members of council spoke in support of Reuscher at this week's meeting, publicly voicing their confidence in Reuscher's ability to contribute to the city going forward.

Fellow Democrat Adam Waldron was also recently elected to fill an additional vacancy left on council.

Several citations were issued by council after Reuscher's swearing in. Of those present at the meeting, resident Jacqueline Lilley-McCammon was acknowledged for her service with the Bethlehem Fire Department. McCammon joined the department in 1988 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2006. McCammon leaves the department after having served as assistant chief.

Resident Dennis W. Richard was also recognized for his work with Bethlehem's Wastewater and Treatment Plant, where he begin working in 1985.

Additional citations were issued by council to city employees Craig S. Finnerty and Fred Rice.

In addressing council this week, Mayor Robert Donchez said his administration has begun work on a new website design for the city which includes the revamping of interactive and mobile capabilities. Donchez noted that he expects phase one of the redesign to be released for public use on April 1.

In response, councilman Reynolds addressed the mayor and suggested that the administration also consider utilizing social media tools for the city through Twitter or Facebook for functions such as alerting the public of when garbage pickup is.

The next council meeting is Feb. 18 at Town Hall.
