John A. Roth, 87, of Schnecks-ville, died Jan. 31, 2014 at Woodland Terrace, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Margaret H.(Gilly) Roth.
Born in North Whitehall Township, he was a son of the late Harvey E. Roth and the late Sarah Jane (Greene) Roth.
He was a PFC in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a self-employed siding and metal roofing contractor in the Lehigh Valley for more than 50 years, before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Egypt Community Church, Whitehall.
He was a member of the Guthsville Rod and Gun Club and Mack's Pistol and Revolver League.
He was a collector of old hit and miss motors and was also an avid Phillies fan.
He is survived by a son, Ronald J. and his wife Kim of Lehigh Township; three daughters, Karen A. of Whitehall, Louise A. Hower of Schnecksville, and Darlene A. Hower of Allentown; six grandchildren, Eric Heiney, Melinda Snyder, Matthew Roth, Jonathan Hower, and Ryan and Lauren Verret; two great–granddaughters, Kendall and Kaitlyn; a step-daughter; three step-sons and many step grandchildren; and step great–grandchildren.
He was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
