Jack J. Kushner, 86, of Allentown, died Jan. 25, 2014, in his home. He was the husband of Ferne (Rodale) Kushner. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Robert and Gertrude Kushner.
He was an active member of Congregation Keneseth Israel in Allentown, where he was a member of the board of trustees.
He was a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1950 and was an Army veteran serving during World War II.
He began his career at Rodale Manufacturing and later became the vice-president and co-owner of Allen Electric Co. Later in his career, he and his son owned franchises of the Sylvan Learning Centers until his retirement.
He was a past president of the Jewish Family Service of the Lehigh Valley and was the general chairman of Israel Bond Drive in 1970.
He is survived by his wife; children, JoAnne and her husband Robert Abrams, David and his wife Leila Covrigaru (Arie); sister, Sunya Schulman; grandchildren, Kori (Taryn), Barr and Avi. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy.
