Karly Sacco's art students from Weisenberg Elementary School have their artwork displayed in the Northwestern Lehigh School Board meeting room.
The work was presented at the Jan. 15 board meeting.
Sacco said she was excited to be presenting the six pieces.
First grader Aidan Freeman used warm and cool colors to paint a sailing scene. Then, he created a collage using patterned wallpaper for the sails.
Zachary Grim's work was inspired by Pablo Picasso. A hand was drawn holding flowers, which were painted.
Olivia Silfies' black-bordered work was of an aerial view of a goldfish pond.
Silfies completed the piece after she studied Tiffany stained glass. The fourth grader created her own colors by combining others.
Fifth grader Sarah Inhoff used water color techniques as she created an underwater scene with sea plants and creatures, fish and sand.
Macie Trotter, a third grader, made simple shapes, patterns and lines with wax, then covered it with purple to create a background, which did not stick on the waxed areas.
Cole Hausman created an abstract with shapes and colors. Oil pastels filled in the blank spaces.
Board member Joe Reiter suggested the students do some work for their moms and dads.
"I kept a drawing [from his child] for 28 years and still have it," Reiter said. "Now, I show it to my grandkids. It puts diversity in a young person's mind."
Board President Darryl Schafer said visitors are amazed when they come to a meeting in the room and view the artwork.
