Morgan re-elected board president

Christina "Tori" Morgan was re-elected for a third term as president of the South Whitehall Board of Commissioners at the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting.

Nominated by Thomas Johns and seconded by Dale Daubert, Morgan received unanimous approval in a voice vote.

Morgan was originally appointed to fill a vacancy on the board, then won two full terms, with her most recent victory in November 2013.

In addition to her role in South Whitehall, Morgan serves on the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.

"Thank you, everybody," Morgan said after the vote. "I appreciate your trust in my duty."

Moving to other positions, outgoing Vice President Dale Daubert nominated Glenn Block to take his place.

This was followed by a vote of approval.

Morgan nominated David Bond for the position of board secretary, which also received unanimous approval.

Commissioners then proceeded to reappoint The Pidcock Company as township engineer.

"I extend appreciations from Scott [Pidcock], who is head of the firm," Ralph Russek Jr., who represents the engineering company at commissioners' meetings, told the board.

Russek said The Pidcock Company was first appointed township engineer in 1964, under the direction of John Pidcock.

"This is our 50th year of service to South Whitehall," Russek said.

Commissioners reappointed Joseph A. Zator II as township solicitor.

"I thank the board for their ongoing confidence," Chris McLean, who was representing the firm that evening, said.

Zator has been township solicitor for two-and-a-half years.

The board also approved James Broughal as alternate township solicitor, Thomas Heimbach as township labor attorney, and David Knerr as solicitor for the Civil Service Commission.

Lenore Horos was reappointed township secretary.

Lastly, commissioners approved a resolution reappointing Jon Hammer as township manager.

Daubert asked for a voice vote, which turned out to be a unanimous 5-0 in favor.

Expressing appreciation for his reappointment, Hammer said he cannot claim 50 years of service like the Pidcock Company as he has not yet reached age 50.

Commissioners' meetings are now scheduled for 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month.

Workshops, as needed, will be 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday.
