Fountain Hill Borough Council held its 2014 reorganization meeting and swearing-in ceremonies Jan. 6 before the regular meeting of the council.

The council elected leadership from within its ranks; Lawrence Rapp was elected president, Norman Blatt Jr. was elected vice president, and Douglas Trotter Jr. was elected chairman pro tempore.

District Judge Wayne Maura administered the oath of office to Fountain Hill Mayor Jose Rosado who had been re-elected in November. In turn, Rosado swore in Carolee Gifford, Philip Trabel, Helen Halleman and Lawrence Rapp. Trabel had been elected for his first term; the others were re-elected.

Thomas Redding Jr. was sworn in as the borough's tax collector.

Family members of the officials and department heads made up the bulk of the attendees at the meeting.

The council quickly approved the appointments of other officials for the municipality and set the meeting schedule for the coming year.

In brief remarks, Rosado commended Public Works Director James Levernier, Chief of Police Ed Bachert and Fire Chief Richard Reis for the work their departments did over the past week.

"Congratulations to the departments for action during the snow emergency," Rosado said. "Thanks for your quick responses to the storm."
