Although the winter season has just arrived, Coplay Sports Inc. will be holding baseball and softball sign-ups Saturday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Sixth Street field house.

Sign-ups will again be held Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and Wednesday evenings, Feb. 5 and 12, from 6-7:30 p.m., also at the field house.

Old sneakers can now be discarded in the foyer at borough hall.

The recycled sneakers will go to a good cause.

Reports indicate more residents than ever are digging out snow from around fire hydrants.

Many are not stopping there as the shoveling extends from the sidewalk and curb to the street where children are picked up and returned home by school buses.

There has been much cooperation from property owners using shovels or snowblowers in removing the snow from their walks.

Lehigh County personnel have been on top of removing snow from the Coplay-Northampton Bridge, on the south side sidewalk.

Officials remind the public the north side walks are closed to pedestrian traffic for safety reasons, although it is not unusual to see young people using the walks.

Trinity United Church of Christ, Third and Coplay streets, will hold a community service Thursday evenings, beginning at 6 p.m.
