Susan J. Schartel, 57, of Macungie, died Dec. 24, 2013. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Francis P. and June L (Rappe) Holzer of Bethlehem.

She was a 1974 Liberty High School graduate.

She was an administrative assistant for various physicians and community organizations. She was licensed phlebotomist.at Lehigh Valley Hospital. For the past 12 years, she was secretary of the Career Center at Muhlenberg College.

She was a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of the Brandywine Heights Music Boosters.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Stefanie; a son, Kevin; a brother, Richard Holzer and his fiancé, Donna; her companion of the last six years, Thomas Nelson; and Terry Schartel, the father of her children.
