Michael E. Kush, firefighter

Michael E. Kush, 75, of Lower Saucon Township, died Dec. 21, 2013, at home. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late William and Amelia (Gralka) Kush.He was the husband of Martha (Fahs) Kush.

He was in the U.S. Army.

He was a firefighter for the Allentown Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant after 23 years of service.

He was a former member of St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was active in the Union Historical Fire Society, and coordinated the annual "Spring Melt" Fire and Antique Show at Ag Hall to benefit area burn centers. He sold sports and fire memorabilia at Renningers Antique Market for more than 30 years. He was a baseball and softball player and most recently for the Patriots Old Timers, Allentown, where he coached and managed the team.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jill Kush-Johns and her husband David Johns of Swoyersville; five grandchildren, Amanda Thompson, Teriane Streitel and David, Michael and Tessa Johns; and a great-granddaughter, Gwen Johns.

He was predeceased by a brother, William Kush.
