James V. Brong, 71, of Coopersburg, died Dec. 14, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Kathryn A. (Cannon) for 44 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Dr. George and Mildred (McKay).
He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences and an MBA in accounting from Wilkes University.
He was a CT3 in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 on the U.S.S. Liberty, which was assaulted. He was wounded, for which he received a purple heart.
He was a project accountant for Fuller Company, later FL Smidth, Bethlehem, for 20 years, until retiring in 2003.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Allison R. and her husband Travis Smith of East Greenville and, Elizabeth A. of Coopersburg; and a sister, Constance and her husband Kenneth Butz of Nazareth.
