Loretta S. Valitski, of Hellertown, died Dec. 8, 2013, while in the care of Westminster Village Nursing Home, Allentown. Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Kuchinsky) Syzdek. She was the wife of William F. Valitski.

She was a 1960 graduate of Penn State University.

She was a researcher at Merck, Sharp and Dohme. Later, she was a bookkeeper at TopCon Corporation, Norristown.

She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary R. C. Church, Bethlehem, where, before her illness, she was on the New Member Committee and in other groups, and was a collection counter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lynne and her husband James Finnegan of Lower Macungie Township and Elizabeth and her husband Derek Root of Hagerstown, Md.; a sister, Sonia and her husband Stanley Dieter of Easton; and four grandchildren, William, Seamus, Anson and Jason.
