The Parkland High School music production class released its holiday CD album, "Parkland: A Season of Giving 2013" during a Dec. 4 launch party.
Students and staff listened to the CD and viewed live video performances of some of the songs on the album.
All proceeds from the CD sale will be given to "Autism Speaks," an advocacy organization dedicated to funding research into autism.
"We all voted on Autism Speaks as a class," said Mitchell Kresge. "It is international and we thought it would be a good thing to help out."
Each of the 10 students in the class, along with the Parkland High School Chorale, was instrumental in either producing a unique arrangement of a familiar holiday song, or creating an original song on the CD, he said.
"The styles of music are different. We have rock, light metal, electronic, instrumental, and jazz," Mitchell said. "We worked on the CD from early October to November and there are 12 tracks on the album."
Dr. Scott Watson, who teaches the course, commented on the project.
"This is the eighth year students in the music production class have produced a holiday CD," Watson said.
The CDs are available for $10 and will be on sale throughout the winter.
