Sixth grade students at Northwestern Middle School once again participated in the Turkey Trot on Nov. 8.

Students were asked to bring in canned goods to be donated to the Christ's Church at Lowhill Food Pantry.

More than 527 canned items were collected for the pantry, just in time for Thanksgiving.

In the past, this event was postponed due to rain; this year, however, while the event was not postponed it began during a cold, windy day with snow showers.

Winners of the boys run were:Timothy Noctor, first place; Luke Bryan, second; and Jason Blaine, third place.

The girls winners were:Jillian Fink, first place; Sophia Shuhay, second and Kristen Brown, third place.
