The new C-Town Supermarket on South Third Street in South Bethlehem got approval for its façade, signage and lights from the Historical Conservation District board at a meeting Nov. 18 at the Banana Factory.

Store Manager Kevin Luna said he expects the new store to open in mid-December. Luna said he plans a grand opening at a date he will announce.

C-Town Supermarkets, according to the corporate website, "are independently owned markets located across the northeast. Each C-Town has flexibility to offer a local mix of products to meet the neighborhood needs."

The newly renovated building housed the former Supermercado Mi Tierra grocery store which closed last summer.

"The new façade is historically appropriate," said Christine Ussler, the architectural consultant to the board.

The new store expects to get a certificate of occupancy after some additional work said Luna.

Everton Bryan and Rubyian Douett, co-owners of Annie's Beauty Supply and Clothing, got the historical review board's tentative approval for sign designs for their new store at 29 West Fourth St. The board asked to see a scale drawing of the new signs and told the store owners that the new signage cannot be backlit.

This is the second store that Bryan and Douett own. They have an Annie's Beauty Supply and Clothing store at 1012 Hamilton St. in Allentown.

The historical review board approved three new panel antennas to the roof top of the 153-foot building at 4 East Fourth St. Verizon Wireless will use the antennas to increase wireless service capability in the area.
